His problem, however, is that he is a political novice that can easily be jerked around, and that has been made clear on multiple occasions. Not only did that happen on the first time he wanted a millionaire’s tax, it also happened with the state’s proposed marijuana legalization law going down in flames due to opposition from inner-city Democrats. That one really hurt because it would have been a model law for the rest of the country. Murphy’s support for other measures means very little.
Also he is somehow worse than Chris Christie when it comes to sports team fandom. Christie was notoriously a Dallas Cowboys fan in a state full of Giants and Eagles fans. Murphy is a carpetbagging New England sports fan, much like De Blasio and Corey Johnson. He also wished luck to Ilya Kovalchuk for participating in the 2018 Winter Olympics as an athlete representing New Jersey... when he infamously left the state’s NHL team so he could play for Putin’s favorite club based in St. Petersburg.
